Suspect in assault at homeless camp arrested
Police say the suspect in a Wednesday night assault at a homeless encampment in Olympia has been arrested.
The suspect surrendered to police Friday, according to Olympia police Lt. Sam Costello.
Police say the suspect got into a fight with another man at the encampment near Martin Way East. He is believed to have hit the man in the head with a hammer, fracturing the victim’s skull.
Costello said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
