Suspects in Yauger Park fight face assault charges

Two men arrested after a fight at Yauger Park in west Olympia last week face two counts each of first-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon.

Markel D. Thierry, 19, is being held on $50,000 bail, while Cody A. Fazzone, 22, was released on $25,000 bail.

Police were called to the park just before midnight April 10. They say two men suffered stab wounds, including one who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A 17-year-old boy also was arrested. In court documents, police alleged the three “instigated and were involved in” the fight.

According to charging documents, the fight began in a group of people at the park who had been drinking. The situation escalated after several witnesses said Fazzone attempted to “hit on” the women in the group.
