Body found near Nisqually in September identified as missing Renton man
Renton detectives have identified the body found Sept. 24 in a wooded area off Reservation Road Southeast, near Nisqually.
The body is that of Daniel J. Shur, 20, from Renton. Shur had been reported as missing on Aug. 26, 2021, by a concerned acquaintance, according to a news release.
Detectives said there were no immediate indications of foul play at Shur’s home, but that those closest to him expressed concerns that he may have left home under duress. His missing persons case has been amended to a homicide investigation that is ongoing.
The Olympian originally reported the incident as a homicide on Oct. 14 following an autopsy report from the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.
Shur was known to frequently buy and sell vehicles and may have had close relationships with regional car clubs, according to the release. Detectives are hoping to speak with anyone who has participated in a vehicle transaction with Shur within the last year, or anyone who may have been traveling near the area he was found and noticed anything unusual or suspicious.
Detectives are asking anyone with any information regarding this case to contact Detective Renggli at 425-430-7525 or at jrenggli@rentonwa.gov.
