Suspect slaps woman’s buttocks on Chehalis Western Trail in Lacey
Lacey police are looking for a man who allegedly slapped a woman’s buttocks on the Chehalis Western Trail.
The incident occurred around 6:38 p.m. Saturday near the trail’s intersection with 37th Avenue Southeast. A woman was walking with a friend when a man rode by on a bike and slapped her buttocks hard enough to propel her forward, according to police.
The suspect was described as a white male between 17 and 25 years old. He was wearing a black hat with the brim turned up, along with a black jacket and baggy black pants.
Sgt. Jaime Newcomb said the assault was similar to an incident that occurred June 24 on the Olympia Woodland Trail. After the suspect slapped the victim, he looked back and smiled at her, Newcomb said.
“He definitely was letting the victim know he was aware of what he had done,” said Newcomb, who suggested that trail users walk with a partner when possible. “Just be aware of your surroundings.”
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the suspect. To report a tip, call 800-222-8477.
