Coroner IDs cyclist killed in hit-and-run in Olympia. Second car may be involved
A cyclist who died after being hit with a car in Olympia Saturday has been identified.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock identified the cyclist as Steven Reeves, a 41-year-old man who was experiencing homelessness.
Police found Reeves lying unresponsive in the road in the 3200 block of Martin Way East at around 3 a.m. Saturday, Lt. Paul Lower previously said. First responders took the man to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia where he later died, he said.
Reeves died from multiple blunt force injuries, Warnock said. Those injuries resulted from being struck by at least one car and possibly a second car, he said.
“I know law enforcement are working their side of the details to see if they can find two cars that stopped and took off,” Warnock said.
Lower previously said police were searching for one driver who headed west on Martin Way before turning north onto Ensign Road following the collision.
When reached for comment Thursday, Lower said Olympia police were still investigating the incident and recently canvassed the area to search for video.
He said he had no vehicle or suspect description to share yet.
