Burger King teases three new Whoppers created by fans. What’s on them?
Burger King fans will soon have their pick of three new Whopper sandwiches.
The fast-food giant confirmed the burgers, created by fans, will arrive on menus nationwide later this fall, though an official date isn’t confirmed, according to a Sept. 16 news release.
In February, Burger King kicked off its “Million Dollar Whopper” contest inviting customers to dream up their own twist on the classic sandwich. Fans had a chance at a $1 million prize and would see their creations sold at Burger King restaurants across the U.S., the release said.
After “more than a million” submissions, three finalists made the cut. They are:
- Fried pickle ranch Whopper (created by Fabian from California) featuring a beef patty topped with pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a sesame seed bun.
- Maple bourbon Whopper (created by Calvin from California) featuring a beef patty topped with maple bourbon BBQ sauce, crispy onions, jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon and American cheese on a sesame seed bun.
- Mexican street corn Whopper (created by Kelsie from Nebraska) featuring a beef patty topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest seasoned tortilla crisps and Mexican spicy queso on a sesame seed bun.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
“The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking ‘Have It Your Way’ to the next level, and we were blown away by the thought and creativity that went into the Whopper creations that were submitted,” Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America, said in the release.
Burger King said more information about the Million Dollar Whoppers and how fans can help decide the winner will be available in November.
