Does WA Gov. Jay Inslee really plan to move to Idaho when he leaves office in January?
You might have heard the rumor going around that outgoing Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is moving to Idaho once his term ends. So, is he?
Nope, the Democrat says.
In a Dec. 9 post on X (Twitter), Inslee referenced the gossip that he intends to pack his bags and relocate to the Gem State.
“Disreputable right-wing media don’t usually get under my skin, but that is the case when they suggest I have plans to move to Idaho after I leave office,” the post says. “Washington already has the best potatoes anyway.”
This isn’t the first time that Inslee’s camp has had to correct the record when it comes to Idaho.
The Idaho Tribune, a conservative media website, posted on social media in July about murmurings that Inslee had “acquired a ‘retirement’ property in Hayden Lake, Idaho.”
The Center Square then contacted Inslee’s office, which blasted the allegation as “untrue, pure rumor.”
The governor’s Dec. 9 post came after conservative journalist Ari Hoffman referenced the Idaho rumor during a recent appearance on Newsmax. Hoffman has since said that he’d been joking.
Mike Faulk, spokesperson for the governor’s office, told McClatchy on Dec. 11 that right-wing social media has kept the bogus Idaho claim going, despite it having zero credibility.
“Just a bunch of unserious people pushing unverified information,” Faulk said.
