Some state workers who have furloughs today will participate in a Day of Service, and others are invited to join in the work.
The project involves beautifying downtown Olympia by removing trash and digging weeds.
Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at the Heritage Park fountain, at Fourth Avenue and Sylvester Street. They are asked to bring gloves and trash bags, and cleaning tools such as brooms if they can. They can socialize afterward at the Fish Tale Brew Pub, where they can buy half-price pints of beer from 2-5 p.m.
