State workers will be on furlough Tuesday
Many Washington State agencies will be closed Tuesday, the day after Labor Day, as employees are furloughed for the third day this year to save money.
The state plans Oct. 11 and Dec. 27 furlough days and five more in 2011.
The Office of Financial Management expects the furloughs to save $70 million in the two-year budget.
Public health and safety workers are exempt. They include state troopers, prison guards and child-protection workers.
