Gregoire appoints Sutton to Superior Court
OLYMPIA - Gov. Chris Gregoire on Tuesday appointed Lisa L. Sutton to be a Thurston County Superior Court judge. She replaces Richard D. Hicks, who retired Sept. 30.
Sutton, 53, is the senior counsel and employment team leader for the Torts Division at the Office of the Attorney General, where she has served for 24 years working in several divisions, according to a news release from the governor’s office. “Lisa’s hard work and dedication will be a strong asset to the court,” Gregoire said in the release.
Sutton serves as the vice chairwoman for the YMCA Briggs Community Branch.
She has been a member of the Washington Women Lawyers’ state board and committees and volunteered as a family law mentor at the Thurston County Legal Services Clinic. In 2005, Sutton received an Attorney General Award for her work on the Domestic Violence Awareness Committee.
In a phone interview Tuesday, Sutton said she is active in Capitol City Marathon and the Kids Run.
