Target recalls nearly 175,000 Christmas decorations after they made consumers bleed
Nothing can cut short the glee of mailing a letter to Santa Claus quite like the pain of your fingers getting cut while mailing it. That’s why Target recalled 174,300 Bullseye’s Playground Letters to Santa Metal Mailbox.
The mailbox is designed like a vintage mailbox from the time they would hang on light poles. But the very old school design comes with a very old school safety hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The mail slot on the mailbox can be sharp, posing a laceration hazard.”
Can be sharp and, apparently, has been sharp, sharp enough to cause “seven incidents of lacerations with three requiring medical attention.”
Single mailboxes were sold in red or white as item No. 234-17-8556 for $5. Two packs, one red box and one white box, were sold as item No. 234-20-9275 for $10.
Target asks customers to return the mailbox to any Target store for a full refund on a Target gift card. You can also contact Target for a prepaid return label to ship the mailbox for a gift card refund.
For that or to answer any questions, call 800-440-0680, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Eastern time.
