Lacey shooting victims identified, shooting suspect upgraded to serious condition
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock has released the names of the victims in Monday’s fatal shootings in Lacey.
Rachel E. Gardin-Gonzalez, 31, the suspect's wife, from Lacey, was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck, and had blunt force trauma to her head.
Kimberly J. Redford, 51, of Missouri, also was killed by gunshot wound to the head and neck, and also had blunt force trauma to her head. Warnock said she was visiting from Missouri to help move her daughter back there.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, according to an official at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Police were called to a home in Lacey Monday afternoon after a report of a man with a gun. Both women were found shot at the home — one died at the scene, the other died at a local hospital.
The male suspect in the shooting, 32, led police on a high-speed pursuit through Thurston County and shot at police. He was stopped in Olympia and shot himself in the neck, according to Lacey Police Department.
