Homicide investigation underway in Thurston County after Sunday morning shooting
A resident in their mid-20s is dead after a shooting early Sunday in the Grand Mound area, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says.
About 7 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a home on 201st Avenue Southwest. Deputies and West Thurston Fire crews attempted to revive the victim at the scene, but that person ultimately died.
Detectives are investigating, but no suspect details are available for release, the Sheriff’s Department says.
In a separate social media post, Sheriff Derek Sanders said the shooting was in the same area of a shootout July 19.
In that case, Sanders said the incident was initially reported as a drive-by shooting, but it turned out to be a shootout between two people who knew each other. One shooter was shot, taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and later arrested. The other was at large.
Anyone with information about the Sunday shooting is asked to contact Thurston 911 dispatch at 360-704-2740 or detectives at detectives@co.thurston.wa.us.
