Lacey police have identified two teenage boys killed in a drive-by shooting last week in Lacey.

Alexander M. Borgen, 16, of Lacey, and Deven J. Borgen, 17, of Rainier were brothers who lived separately, each with a different parent, King 5 news reported.

About 1:50 a.m. Friday, Lacey police were dispatched to a report of shots fired. They responded and found the two brothers in the road in the area of 24th Avenue Southeast and College Street Southeast, which is about two blocks south of Mountain View Elementary.

Medics attempted to revive the two teens, but they died at the scene, according to police.

“The investigation has determined this to have been a drive-by shooting,” police said in a news release.

There were no updates about the incident Sunday morning, although Lacey Sgt. Jeremy Knight said the department is actively working the case and putting long hours into it.

King 5 also reports that a nonprofit called the Youth Peace and Justice Foundation is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

A message from Rainier Middle School and High School Principal John Beckman to students and families was shared with The Olympian on Sunday.

“Deven was a current senior at Rainier High School. He was a great kid! He was kind, well-liked, and a friend to many,” his message reads. “His grandfather asked that we notify our community, knowing how many connections Deven had here and how deeply this loss will be felt.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Borgen family during this unimaginably difficult time. We recognize that news like this is incredibly difficult to process, especially for students who knew Deven well.

“Counselors will be available next week to support any students or staff who may need assistance. Please do not hesitate to reach out if your child needs someone to talk to or if you have any questions.”

Anyone with information about the double homicide, including video, is asked to contact the Lacey Police Department at 360-459-4333.
