A 20-year-old Lacey resident accused of killing two teenage boys in a Nov. 14 drive-by shooting has pleaded not guilty to the seven charges against him.

Trequanne Trenelle Wilson Mason, 20, attended his arraignment hearing in Thurston County Superior Court Tuesday morning.

Patrick O’Connor, the county’s public defense director, entered the plea on behalf of Wilson Mason and said he demanded a jury trial. Wilson Mason is accused of shooting and killing brothers Alexander Borgen, 16, and Devon Borgen, 17, in the area of 24th Avenue Southeast and College Street Southeast, which is about two blocks south of Mountain View Elementary. Both died at the scene.

Prosecutors allege Wilson Mason fired 27 rounds and mistakenly targeted Alexander Borgen, believing he was someone who shot at his home in October 2024.

Prosecutors charged Wilson Mason with seven counts on Nov. 21 and slightly amended the charges on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to the following crimes Tuesday:

  • Two counts of first-degree aggravated murder while armed with a firearm.
  • Two counts of drive-by shooting.
  • Second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
  • Tampering with physical evidence.
  • Violation of a protection order/restraining order/no contact order, domestic violence.

The first four counts are for allegedly shooting and killing the Borgen brothers from a moving vehicle. As for the tampering with physical evidence charge, court records allege he deleted video evidence from his residence on Belair Drive Southeast, which is about a third of a mile south from where the shooting took place.

Wilson Mason is charged with second-degree unlawful passion of a firearm because he was previously barred from having a firearm in a February domestic violence case, according to court records.

In that case, prosecutors charged him with two counts of second-degree assault while armed with a firearm, felony harassment – threat to kill while armed with a firearm and fourth-degree assault.

The court also ordered him to not contact the victim in that case, yet law enforcement allegedly found him with the victim when they arrested him in Wenatchee on Nov. 18.

A jury trial for the February domestic violence case is tentatively scheduled to start early next year.

For the homicide case, Superior Court Judge Allyson Zipp scheduled a jury trial to start early next year, but that may be delayed between now and then.

Wilson Mason is being held in the Thurston County jail without bail pending his trial.

Co-defendant Jaden Hawk Johns, 20, also appeared for his arraignment hearing Tuesday, but he did not enter a plea.

Judge Zipp continued Johns’ arraignment hearing to Wednesday morning at the request of defense attorney Kevin Griffin.

Johns is accused of driving the vehicle from which Wilson Mason fired at the two Borgen brothers as well as providing Wilson Mason with a firearm.

Prosecutors charged Johns with five counts on Monday.

  • Two counts of first-degree aggravated murder while armed with a firearm.
  • Two counts of drive-by shooting.
  • Attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.

The latter count is for allegedly leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit on state Route 512 in Pierce County on the night of Nov. 19.

The pursuit ended after a Thurston County deputy conducted a precision immobilizing technique, or PIT maneuver, that caused Johns’ vehicle to crash.
