Lacey police have arrested a 20-year-old Lacey resident in connection to the Nov. 14 shooting death of two teenage boys.

Officers booked the man into the Thurston County jail on suspicion of two-counts of first-degree murder and two-counts of drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning, according to a Lacey police news release.

The man is accused of shooting and killing Alexander Borgen, 16, and Deven Borgen, 17. Lacey police found the two brothers in the road in the area of 24th Avenue Southeast and College Street Southeast, which is about two blocks south of Mountain View Elementary. Medics attempted to revive the teens but they both died at the scene.

“Lacey investigators, along with regional, state, and federal partners, have worked tirelessly to solve this senseless crime and bring those responsible to justice,” the release states.

Investigators said they tracked the man from Lacey to a hotel in Wenatchee. Lacey police, with help from local law enforcement, arrested him there Tuesday evening, according to the jail log.

Two North Thurston schools were locked out about 11 a.m. on Tuesday for roughly 30 minutes after police responded to activity near College Street in Lacey. Lacey police Sgt. Jeremy Knight later confirmed investigators searched a home near College Street and Belair Drive Southeast in connection to a drive-by shooting.

The Olympian does not typically name suspects until their first appearance in court or until they have been officially charged with a crime.

The man also is being held on a no-bail felony warrant for violating a court order in connection to a February domestic violence case, the release said.

In that case, the man is accused of pointing a gun at a woman at a Lacey home. Court records indicate he was charged with two counts of second-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon, felony harassment – threat to kill and fourth-degree assault.

On Feb. 19, Thurston County Superior Court Judge Allyson Zipp set bail at $25,000 and ordered he have no contact with the woman he’s accused of pointing a gun at, according to court records. The man posted bail two days later.

On Tuesday, Superior Court Judge John Skinder ordered a bench warrant be issued for his arrest based on new information from Lacey police.

Court records indicate police followed the man on Monday and observed him at a home near College Street and Belair Drive Southeast and later in a car with the woman he’s barred from contacting.

Police followed the car all the way to a hotel in the 200 block of East Penny Road in Wenatchee, according to court records, and saw the man enter a hotel room with the woman.

On Wednesday, Lacey police Sgt. Jeremy Knight confirmed investigators also searched the home near College Street and Belair Drive Southeast in connection to the drive-by shooting.

The search prompted two nearby North Thurston Public Schools to briefly go into lock out Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, Police Chief Robert Almada told The Olympian that investigators used a SWAT team in the search and that the schools were placed on lock out as a “preponderance of caution.”

“The events of last early Friday morning, while disturbing and upsetting, are fortunately very rare occurring in Lacey,” Almada said. “We have spared no expense in this investigation.”

Almada added that people have worked on this investigation throughout the state.

Police are continuing to “aggressively investigate” this case, per the agency’s news release.

“The Lacey Police Department would like to thank assisting law enforcement agencies, as well as the public for their assistance in providing surveillance video and tips,” the release states.
